Heather's Camp, founded in 2001, is a non-profit organization devoted to providing a summer camp experience for youth with visual impairments.

FUNDED SOLELY BY DONATIONS, HEATHER'S CAMP is celebrating 15 YEARS in 2015 WITH HELP FROM SUPER COOL PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

Heather Muller, the inspiration for Heather's Camp, had great empathy and a passion for working with people with special needs. Volunteering at Rainbows United and the Newman Center at WSU was very important to her. Heather graduated from Wichita State University with an undergraduate degree in audiology and was working on her masters in Early Childhood Special Education while teaching preschool at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School.

While at Wichita State University, Heather was also a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, whose philanthropy is Service for Sight. Service for Sight promotes sight preservation and assistance to children and adults who are visually impaired.  Our strong desire to honor our sister Heather, along with these passions, created the vision for a new camp in Heather's name and a great partnership with Envision and Delta Gamma Fraternity.

Heather's Camp relies solely on donations to fund all costs related to providing a wholesome summer camp experience for Heather's Camper's, who benefit from increased self-confidence, new friendships, outdoor adventures, music, fun and laughter while increasing emotional growth and support to their families. In 2001 Heather's Camp hosted 17 children with visual impairments. In 2014, there were 80 campers and over 100 staff volunteers!

Fun Fact: All of the volunteers for Heather's Ride have also volunteered at Heather's Camp or have a personal connection and know these campers personally. It is our love of Heather's Camp that is behind our passion for Heather's Ride!

Heather’s Camp has taught me that I am just like everyone else, even though I do have a visual impairment. We all want to be treated the same way everyone else is. I like to think of it as anyone that has a disability is special no matter what the disability is. Be happy with who you are! We’re all special and unique!
